I don't think the Canadian officers will ask you that question. But like someone else said on this thread that question may be raised by the US officers when you return. I am curious to know about this myself.
Aslo (I don't want to scare you but thought you ought to know) there's another discussion going on here http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17061 where the US officers at POE in SF airport raised an issue saying that AP can be only used for imergencies. This looks more like an isolated case but I want everyone to be aware of that case.
In my case, i do not have a valid H-1B visa stamp. I recently visited India and used Advance Parole. Questions related to this

Got Welcome notice by USPS o Aug 16th (approved on August 10th), online status changed to PDA on August 19th, got physical cards yesterday.

thanks a lot kshitijnt.... my gc has been filed about 5 months back. At that point I wasn't planning to shift to PF otherwise i wudn't have made them file it. ya, as u said i shud have started with PF directy. Just because my company filed for h1b, i didn't wanted to ditch theem. Now I realised that its foolish in this fied to be considerate for someone especially desi employers.
Anyways will try ur way and see how it goes.

Any updates on your end? I am in the same situation. My wife received hers over a week ago but I am still waiting. Approval notice received more than 2 weeks ago.

On August 3, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS.

Guys,
VISA BULLETIN FOR JUNE 2009 sets back EB2 priority back to 01JAN00.
Some thing needs to be done. The easist will be not counting ebdependents in ebquota. This should be very easy. There is no INA law linking ebquota with ebdependents.
I need IV Core help for this.

I agree with you. No questions about it. I think there are two components on legal immigration alone:
1. People who are stuck in the queue for many years
2. Increase in visa numbers for future skilled workers
At minimum, number 1) above should be fixed out of fairness. We already went through the painful labor certification process. That's unrelated to market demand or not.
I agree, we haven't had a chance to put that clear message out there.
This myth has never been successfully countered in the media or any other PR or lobbying channel by the legal immigration crowd.
The standard line amounts to this:
We are highly skilled we are legal and we are stuck and dont deserve this.
This is not good PR. Nobody cares about this.. it will get us nowhere..
We need to have a standard message apart from all other humint crap..
1) legals cannot undercut US jobseekers because of strict labor laws. Employers are paying a premium in wages as well as legal fees to retain their legal alien workforce. IT would be foolhardy of them to go through the hassle if local talent was easily available.
2) legals are in most cases paying taxes for which they may never realize the benifits like social security.
We need to let it be known in a firm polite manner that
1) we are giving more than we are getting and are not free loaders
2) we are not harming or displacing anyone.

It is a hard fact but I guess I do not want to scare anyone. If you notice some people have got their JuLY 2ND filed cases receipt # and most of them have a Notice date of 08/04/2007 (the guys who got their receipt #). This notice date is the day the Receipt was generated. So today is 08/13/2007. It seems that USCIS is delaying this process of issuing receipts as that will give them a chance to reject applications after 17th. So I guess we should brace ourselves for rejection notices also......
Raybarrone - The way one think is our choice. If there is any big master plan to delay our RN so be it. Either we can take it as it is or we can act. These kinds of pessimistic thinking helps no body.
Please help yourself by reading some PMA books.

My checks got cleared at TSC today.
Previously
My 140 was approved at TSC, sent 485 to Nebraska on June 22, they received on June 25. I called to check status yesterday, the lady said to wait. On asking if case will be transferred to TSC and if TSC will generate receipts, she said she doesn't know, but it may take at least 2-3 weeks to process receipts at Nebraska.

Illegal non-immigrants did the rally to local USCIS offices. It would be good if we pick one day in 2nd week of July and have a rally to local USCIS offices. This will immediately catch the media attention.
Rally news should be spread out to media so we can get enough coverage?

There is not much use for just fighting EB3-I. You can send a letter or lobbey and they will hear it. Thats all. There are so much discrepancies in immigration policy of USA(The impact is for just for potential immigrants not for the country) I do not think they will spend time to resolve each and every small discrepancy. There are more more severe issues in the country than resolving EB3-I. Of course that is a big issue for those who are impacted.
But the problem will be automatically resolved if STEM/and or Recapture bill is passed. That is a big picture and that will get more attention than just lobbying for EB3-I.
EB3-I 's best chance in the current context , in the order of faster results,
1. Port to EB2 , If possible
2. Lobby to change spill over distribution. USCIS has been inconsistent over the years. So we need to lobby hard and impress upon them that this year distribution algorithm is unfair .who knows it can change again next year , this time a more balanced one ..
3. Recapture effort: This is a big one and we need to support carry out the tasks assigned by IV and other biggies .
IMO, No genuinely concerned fellow mate should advise EB3-I's to support only recapture effort.
But the problem will be automatically resolved if STEM/and or Recapture bill is passed. That is a big picture and that will get more attention than just lobbying for EB3-I.
